At Milestone, we take pride in our commitment to building a better world for everyone. This means dedicating our skills and resources to serve the greater good. When banded together we believe we can make a meaningful contribution to society, this is something that drives us every day.

This month, our Heritage family will come together to volunteer for our annual United for Service week. During this week, volunteers throughout Milestone and The Heritage Group companies volunteer side-by-side to fight food insecurity.

Food insecurity is a threat to many in our country and worldwide. According to the USDA, more than 34 million people, including 9 million children, in the United States are food insecure.

Alleviating the food scarcity in our communities we live and work in in something Plant Account Cathy Wethington has a passion for. This month, she has rallied our Milestone employee’s ahead of the Week of Service to drop off over 400 pounds of food to the Helping Veterans and Families organization. “Cathy’s passion is absolutely infectious; she is able to get employees involved that may have not been otherwise” said Indianapolis Area Manager Scott Cornelius.

Not only has Cathy been a tremendous leader in our United for Service efforts, but she also paves the way for many other charities throughout the year including our work with the Heart and Sole Shoe Drive, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Veteran associations.

This year, she found a unique and sustainable way to combine United for Service and help another one of our key partners. Cathy was able to take the 2022 United Day of Service bandanas and have them locally recycled into memory bunnies and bears.

Enough bandanas were collected for the memory bear maker to make 40 of the cuddly animals. The memory bears will be donated to the children staying at The Ronald McDonald House. Interested in sponsoring? The handmade friends are available for sponsorship at $45. They have a lanyard around their neck to which a note or card of encouragement can be added. Please contact Cathy if you are interested in sponsoring an animal.

United for Service takes place November 18-22.  The Milestone Indianapolis office will be coming together on November 19 at 9:00 a.m. to pack lunches for Wheeler Mission Women and Children’s Shelter. If you have not signed up to volunteer for this year, it’s not too late! The Heritage Group employees can find more opportunities here. Together, we can help feed people in our communities.
