This month, industry professionals gathered at The Heritage Group’s headquarters, The Center, for the 2025 American Concrete Paving Association (ACPA) Indiana Concrete Pavement Workshop & Awards. The day was dedicated to celebrating the achievements of the previous year and exploring the latest advancements in concrete pavement technology.
The event began with warm welcomes and an introduction by IN ACPA Director of Pavements & Materials, John Leckie. The sessions kicked off with an update from INDOT, delivered by their newly appointed commissioner, Kent Abernathy.
The workshop featured invaluable insights from several guest speakers. Research Engineer Dan King from the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center presented on PCCP (Portland Cement Concrete Pavement) Overlays, sharing updates on the latest techniques and advancements. President Matt Fonte from Fonte & Company discussed the critical importance of smoothness in concrete pavements.
Following additional presentations on PCCP strength testing and additives, attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch break. The afternoon session commenced with the 2025 Indiana Excellence in Concrete Pavement Awards. These awards celebrate outstanding achievements in concrete across the state for the previous year. The awards are designed to honor quality concrete pavements, encourage high-quality workmanship in concrete pavement projects, and serve as a forum to share information about project success.
