In 2021, our Milestone team began work on Section 6 Contract 5, the final component of the I-69 Finish Line Project, which establishes a direct connection between Evansville and Indianapolis. This largest contract of the project includes improvements and added travel lanes to I-465 on the southwest side of Indianapolis, stretching from I-70 to I-65.
After 75 years of studies and discussions, the I-69 Finish Line is now substantially complete, enhancing travel times, safety and bringing economic benefits. Travel time from Martinsville to Indianapolis will be shortened by 11 minutes. Widened highways, new local roads, and ramps will improve accessibility and efficiency, while the elimination of 14 traffic signals boosts safety and travel flow.
This project has been no small feat, but our divisions rose to the challenge. It has been an honor to be part of such a significant improvement to our state. Thank you, INDOT, for your partnership. Also, a huge thank you to our crews who produced the work to Milestone quality and safety standards. In addition, we want to thank our contracting partners. Everyone’s communication, passion and dedication made this achievement possible.
