This April, our team and the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation celebrated the grand opening of Hopewell Commons, Bloomington, Indiana’s, newest park. Hopewell Commons is part of a larger Hopewell neighborhood development, which aims to transform the former IU Health Bloomington Hospital into a vibrant, community-oriented neighborhood. Multiple city departments are working together to solicit proposals for the development of surrounding lots that meet the city’s goals for housing that is affordable, sustainable and with the appropriate density.
Milestone was proudly contracted to provide the underground infrastructure, concrete, asphalt and dirt work for the newly developed park. All the work was led and oversaw by Assistant General Superintendent Thomas Gott.
At the grand opening event, Thomas addressed the crowd and spoke about the project. He noted that many of our crew members who worked to bring the project to fruition were local to Bloomington and many were even born at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
“We are proud to introduce Hopewell Commons, a true testament to our community’s collaboration,” said Thomas. “Our partnership with the City of Bloomington and the dedication of many community members have been key to bringing this project to life. We’re excited to welcome Bloomington residents to enjoy this space for years to come.”
Thank you to Thomas and his crew for all their dedicated work to bring a lively space to the heart of Bloomington. We are honored to be a part of this unique and significant project, and to continue in our role of Making Lives Better One Road and Bridge (or park) at a Time in Bloomington.
