Cindy Bertram with great grand children

This year marks 35 years of service for Executive Assistant Cindy Bertram. Starting on November 19, 1990, with Contractors United, Inc. (CUI), she has been an integral part of our team, witnessing and contributing to the company’s growth and transformation.

Her career began in the estimating department, where she worked for eight years. In 1998, she transitioned to the role of Executive Assistant, taking on a variety of responsibilities including conference coordination, office maintenance, ordering office supplies and organizing special activities. Her multifaceted role has been crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our Columbus and surrounding offices.

Over the years, Cindy has created so many memories she can hardly chose a favorite. Some of her fondest are the countless parties at the Columbus lodge, to helping with special events and watching families she works with grow.

Cindy considers many of her Milestone co-workers not only friends, but family and misses those who are no longer with us today like Ted Brunner, Tom Suding and Kevin Ely. She reflects on the strong bonds form and realizes Milestone is not just a workplace but a community where relationships flourish and memories are made.

Throughout the past 35 years Cindy has seen significant changes, especially in technology. From working on typewriters and adding machines to manually entering data into a Burroughs computer, she has witnessed the evolution to a highly electronic-driven environment with computers, tablets, laptops and team meetings.

Cindy is soon to retire, and she looks forward to spending more time with her great-grandkids and family in the near future. Cindy, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your dedication over the years. We will miss you, but know you are only a call away.

Donna Gladden with co-worker Angie

Donna Gladden has been a part of the Milestone Family for nearly 18 years. She is the Office Manager who happily greets guests with a smile, asks employees about their weekends, and most importantly, keeps things running smoothly at our corporate office. Donna’s role is multifaceted. She juggles phone calls, emails, in-person requests, managing the office, handling confidential information and more. Every day, she answers and directs hundreds of calls that come into the business. She knows most extensions by heart at this point! Donna’s efficiency and skills make her an invaluable asset to our team.

In her nearly two decades with us, Donna has made a lot of memories and friendships along the way. As an avid race fan, most of her fondest memories are at the IMS track, but one of her most memorable moments was showing up to work on Halloween early in her career dressed as a pirate. She was later pulled in for routine drug screenings that afternoon. She jokes that she and Connie, who was dressed as a clown, probably gave the tester a good laugh that day.

Beyond her administrative duties, Donna plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment. She builds strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and vendors, acting as a bridge between different departments. Not only has Donna made good memories within the Milestone building, but she also considers her Milestone co-workers, past and present, as family. Donna, Lisa, and Angie go on vacation annually to a ski resort in West Virginia, where they are 12 by day and 21 by night!

Administrative Professionals Day is a time to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work of individuals like Donna and Cindy. Their contributions are vital to the success of Milestone over the years. Thank you both for your dedication. We could not succeed without you!
